Here Comes the Sun

Updated: Jun 21, 2019

Another Beatles song :) After days and days of cold, rainy weather, the sun finally came out! I think everyone can agree that after the winter months, a sunny spring day can make you smile. Back in November I wrote a post about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and how winter and lack of sunshine can be extremely tough for those who struggle with depression. The good news is, we made it through winter and now the days are getting longer - the sun is out until almost 8 pm!

For me, more sunlight means more time to go golfing. Spring is such a beautiful time of year on the golf course (and everywhere else) and I love to see all of the new growth and the pretty colors. Although it is not the best time for those who have allergies, it still feels wonderful to be outside. Have you ever felt like it's hard to be in a bad mood when you get to be outside on a nice day? Well, there is actually science to back that up. I was reading some articles today about the benefits sunlight can have on our mental health and there are studies that show that sunlight can increase the brain's production of serotonin. According to an article from Health Line, serotonin can boost your mood and help you to feel calm and focused.

What are some ways that you like to get some sun during the spring and summer???
